Have you met Shimal?

SONY DSC

Abdulla Shimal; or Shimal to his friends , is an experienced waiter at Haruge restaurant renowned for his warm and welcoming approach with  our guests. This year marks his decade at Kuramathi and when asked why he stayed with Kuramathi for such a long time, Shimal gave a very simple answer.

“It doesn’t feel like such a long time to me when you have a good team to work with, especially on an island like Kuramathi. I’m not surprised as to why guests chose Kuramathi as their getaway resort. This is a beautiful island in the Maldives. Through the years I have made special friends who I used to refer as guests of Kuramathi who now have actually been here quite a lot of times during my time here.”

During his free time, Shimal enjoys watching movies and he also shared his favourite hobby; origami. This is his first working experience in a resort since he has never been to any other than Kuramathi. Shimal first joined Kuramathi in 2003, on the 4th April as a trainee waiter at the Island Coffee Shop. He was then transferred to Haruge and has been here ever since then. Little did he realise that it would become his most memorable place in the later years to this present day.

Shimal was our waiter on our last trip to Kuramathi. He was absolutely charming and we enjoyed his company and impeccable service. We hope to have him again as our waiter when we return again in Jan 2014.

Shimal is one of my younger brother, he is one my best family member who smile when ever I see him and he always in touch with me and other members. Im not surprised that he worked such a long time in kuramathi as he is a hardworker who has the potential to win. Thats one of the reason kuramathi gets lots of repeat guest. Even if leaves kuramathi I dont feel bad coz he deserve more than what he gets now.
